Consumables

Please can we make parents aware that the consumables charge is completely optional and you can choose to opt out of this should you wish. If you wish to opt out please be reassured that your child will still have access to the full EYFS and will not affect them accessing the curriculum and learning experience.

Non food consumables

Our non-food consumables charge includes:

  • Toilet roll
  • Wipes
  • Nappy sacks
  • Sudocrem/ nappy cream if required
  • Cost of disposing of soiled nappies in the clinical waste bin. If you wish to opt out of the consumable charge it will be the parent’s responsibility to dispose of their own nappies.
  • Facecloths and Face wipes
  • Bibs
  • Bedding and the cost of laundering these.
  • When the weather is nice the consumables charge will also cover sun cream.
Activity Consumables

We have several parties and events throughout the year which are included within your consumable charge.

These include:

  • Christmas party – where Santa comes along and all children receive a gift at no extra cost.
  • Easter celebrations- the Easter bunny will attend, and the children will all receive an easter egg and take part in an egg hunt.
  • Mother and Father’s Day activity days (we buy extra crafts and activities and invite parents into nursery to share the experience with their children)
  • Oral health: We provide each child with a toothbrush and toothpaste.
  • Graduation party- all the children receive parting gifts from the staff.
  • The cost of the materials and ingredients for Artwork, crafts, baking and modelling.
  • Trips out to our local community are included in the consumables cost to include, the library, the park and Elvaston castle which covers extra staffing to facilitate this.
  • Special guests, visitors and events are also included in the consumable cost, such as Jeffrey Jump, characters like Peppa pig and baby shark.
  • egg/tadpole hatching and the butterfly house. (During spring we order up to 20 caterpillars to feed and grow into butterflies)
  • Stickers, rewards and certificates (we buy seasonal/themed stickers, stamps and reward charts throughout the year for children to be rewarded for their achievements and behaviour. We also have special prizes and larger rewards for significant achievements.
  • Outdoor play sand and child safe soil and paint. (We regularly replace our outdoor play sand and child safe paint and soil. A lot of outdoor sand is wasted during play and needs to be replaced regularly. If it is contaminated or has been exposed to weather outside for a while it can become unsuitable for play. We also make sure our paint and soil are child safe and do not contain any skin irritants.
  • Homemade playdough and crafting clays, we buy flour, oil and salt each week to make our own playdough. If the clay is to be taken home, we provide modelling clay.

Your consumable charge covers your child to enjoy all the above and cannot be done on a mix or match basis. Due to administrative and practical reasons, we are unable to deliver these on an “as and when required” basis.

If you are wanting to provide your own items, please make sure these are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
